ON MARCH 26TH THE VOLUNTEER PRESIDENT RECEIVED A LETTER ADVISING US OF THE PROPOSED SITE OF
OUR "NEW STATION", WHEN IN FACT IT IS ONLY A REPLACEMENT!          SOMETHING WE OPPOSE!

ALTHOUGH WE DO OPPOSE THE MOVE AND WANT IT KNOWN THIS PROJECT STARTED WELL BEFORE THE ARRIVAL OF FIRE CHIEF
EUGENE JONES, AND THAT CHIEF JONES CONTINUES TO WORK WITH US ON THE ISSUES OF CONCERN THAT WE HAVE.

HERE ARE THE BIG QUESTIONED THAT REMAIN UNANSWERED

IF AFTER READING THROUGH THE MATERIAL AND YOU AGREE YOUR TAX DOLLARS ARE BEING WASTED
WE HAVE WAYS YOU CAN HELP AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE

To the Citizens of Brandywine and surrounding areas:

For over 50 years, the Volunteer Fire Department of Brandywine has served our community, neighbors, and the general public.  Now, we need
your help!  Please join us in opposing the plan to build a new Brandywine Fire Station.   The rural tier has repeatedly been promised new fire
houses to help response times and the availability of resources, this plan to build a "NEW" fire house is not going to help it is only a
"REPLACEMENT" of an existing station and moving services further away from the rural tier.  If we asked you to approve spending $5 million
Dollars to move a library, county office, or any other building less than 2 miles you would be outraged?  SO why move the fire house?
In tough economic times when the county does not have enough money for essential services why is this project still a priority?

THE TOUGH QUESTIONS

Who is the Brandywine Development Triad LLC former owners of the new site, who are the principals, and why can we get no information on the
land deal? Is something being hidden?

The statistics used to justify the move of the Department are labeled the response times of Brandywine to specific intersections, but in fact these
times are NOT those of Brandywine or specific intersections.  They are an "AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME" of "EVERYONE" who responded to that
"GRID".  SO who are all the people who were averaged into this chart, and how does this justify moving Brandywine? Who responded on the calls
to be averaged into the chart?  In all of the intersections presented to county authorities Brandywine can respond in half the time listed and only
responded to the "GRID" a few times leaving hundreds of responses with to "OTHER" responders.

Moving will raise the number of responses to areas well covered by other companies, SO why remove limited resources to the rural tier?
Moving 1.8 miles to TB also increases the size of the first due response area of Baden from the County Line to North Keys or possible Tower Road,
Moving means if Brandywine is not available will you have to wait for Fire Apparatus and Emergency Medical Services to come from
Charles County, Upper Marlboro, or further away.
Are the lives and property of tax paying citizens in Brandywine and surrounding areas less valuable
than those in Clinton, Camp Springs, Oxon Hill and further away?

In the rural tier there is proposed construction of 500 town homes, 500 assisted / independent living units, and retail shopping for the
Wilmer's Park site, new retail shopping on 301, new homes next to the current Brandywine station
and various other private and commercial building.  Is this a reason to move further away?

How will State Highway Changes to 301 and Route 5 change access to the rural tier?

Current price to add one larger apparatus bay, second floor, and remodel the existing interior and exterior of the Brandywine Firehouse
$1.7 million which also includes some anticipated over runs.
Current price to move 1.8 miles to a
replacement station $442,000.00 for land, $4 to $5 Million for the new station
Which is the better choice?  Why not save the money, sell the land, remodel the current station,
and fix problems at multiple other existing stations?

Parents of students and school organizations state the new station will be a major distraction to students at the school.
Parents of students, school organizations, and citizens are concerned about the possibility of emergency vehicles being blocked in during the daily
gridlock in the morning and evening hours when school is being let in and dismissed.

THESE ARE ALL UN ANSWERED QUESTIONS AND SHOULD BE A CAUSE FOR GREAT CONCERN
